ANTS IDENTIFYING CHARACTERISTICS?
Ants are easily identified by their elbowed antennae and a distinctive node-like structure that forms a slender waist. Different species have differing characteristics. Often, times people confuse swarming ant reproductives (alates) with swarming termites.
WHAT DO THEY EAT?
Ants are scavengers and will feed on virtually anything. Food preferences may change significantly during the course of a season. The ants in the picture below are feeding on gel bait even though there were other competing food sources nearby. This activity will decrease their population at a very fast rate.
WHERE DO THEY HIDE?
Many ants nest near or along structures such as foundations and sidewalks. They may also construct nests inside your home, near water and food sources.
